01 — What we do
Every building has a stage where it is nothing but timber and sky. That is the part we do — the frame, the roof, the studwork and the cladding that everything after us is fixed to. Get it right and the rest of the trades walk straight on.
We'll be finished next week ready for it to be covered inLSB Carpentry · a cut and pitched roof in Radlett
02 — What we take on
Whole roofs, first and second fix, or a team on your programme for as long as the structural work runs. We work for builders, developers and homeowners.
Cut and pitched on site — hips, valleys, dormers and anything a truss won't do. Marlow, Radlett, Rickmansworth.
Set out, craned in, braced and decked. Full plots and terraces, to programme.
Joists, studwork, floors, roof structure and everything that has to be right before it's covered in.
Doors, linings, skirting, architrave, stairs — back on site once the plasterer is out.
Timber and composite cladding, battened and fixed over breather membrane.
Glulam rafters and ridges, steel and timber together, decked and ready for the covering.
Start to finish — structure, dormers, Velux, insulation, stairs and second fix.
03 — Roofs
Two different jobs, and we do both. Which one suits depends on the shape of the roof, the access and what the drawings ask for — happy to tell you which way we'd go.
Every rafter marked out and cut on site. It's the slower way and it takes a carpenter who can set out a roof properly, but it will follow any shape a building throws at it — hips, valleys, unequal spans, tying into something that's already there.
Designed off the drawings, delivered to site and craned in. Far quicker over a plot or a terrace, and the right answer when the roof is a straightforward shape and the programme is tight. Set out, braced, decked and left ready.
04 — A job, week by week
We photograph our jobs as they go, so you can see what actually happens between the scaffold going up and the plasterer arriving. This one ran through May.
Insulation started and stairs are installed.
Windows have been installed. Cladding to go on now and then the scaffold can come down.
Cladding and insulation finished this week ready for the tacker/plasterer to start next week.
Velux balcony fitted ready for the tiler tomorrow and then the scaffold can come down.
